Overview
Seguros Marítimos del Cantábrico is one of the oldest marine insurers in continental Europe, writing hull, cargo and fishing-fleet coverage across the European Union.
History
Founded in 1898 by Basque shipowners to insure the iron-ore trade from Bilbao to Britain.
Insured much of Spain's fishing fleet throughout the 20th century.
Acquired in 2019 to provide Atlas Marine & Cargo with an EU-domiciled carrier.
